Lady Gaga set out to create an epic(ly long) music video, but instead she just forced products into the eyeballs of its viewers. It was over done and over the top (shocker) and was done incredibly obnoxiously. This was clearly an expensive music video and they had to pay for it some how, but still… really?… was all of this really necessary?..

Old Spice Commercial Awesomely Made

After my recent complaints about Dodge and their douchebag commercial it was refreshing to see the Old Spice commercial. They considered both audiences when making this commercial and created something that was equally appealing to both genders. The actor, Isaiah Mustafa, was the perfect mix of hotness (for the women) and masculinity (for both men and women?) complete with a generous helping of smugness (for comedic affect).

What is even more amazing was that this was one continuous shot with very little special affects.

The writers of the commercial can be seen being interviewed below. Start it at 4:05 when they get into step by step detail of how the commercial was made. It took over 50 takes to get this right.

Dodge is just an example of the worse of the misogynistic ads, which has everyone questioning are there any women at all on Madison Ave creating these ads. Now, I’m sure there are but I suspect they lock them in a closet and duct tape their mouths when its time to create ads for the Super Bowl.

Dodge obliterated any female market they had at that moment, and potentially their husbands!

Can I spot an awful awful trend when I see it or what?! Bud Light jumped on the Auto-Tune T-Pain bandwagon, and a very small (like the nail of my pinky toe small) part of me chuckled. My ears are still trying to adjust to hearing that awful sound.

Needless to say, this commercial definitely stuck with me.

Controversial topics aren’t usually what the precious moments of the Super Bowl ad spots are used for. The products or messages conveyed are usually neutral with the content of the commerical creating the stir for the product. In this commercial it was exactly the opposite. The Focus on the Family seemed completely innocent and neutral in content and delivery, but the message and organization contain anything but the aforementioned attributes.

While a lot of the larger companies did a series of ads, Google seems to have invested big in a simple yet affective ad. I don’t know if this wins with the guys, but it definitely gave all the girls watching the Super Bowl an aww moment that lasted.

After a long hiatus I am back to watching TV again and I got way excited when I saw this commercial. I love competition and I love GOOD competition! Finally a commercial that cleverly directly attacks the iphone, as opposed to the carrier. I hope that the new Android phone lives up to the hype! No matter if you are pro- or anti- iphone, competition translates into better prices and better features for both phones.

The discussion that has been prompted from this is whether or not this is confirmation that iPhone will NOT be coming to the Verizon network. Its hard to imagine it will after this direct attack on the device.

I told you so! Auto-Tune is coming to your iphone!

Eeegad! About a month ago I said that Jay-Z’s Death of Auto-Tune song will encourage crappy singers everywhere to pick up the software and create a flood of crappy music into the market place. Guess what! I was right! A new app is in the App Store for the iPhone. No studio or expensive equipment require to record a crappy song.

Now, the end is not quite here. The app, “I Am T-Pain” is simply the beginning of Auto-Tune creators plan for world domination of the recording industry according to the New York Times.

Jay-Z Rhapsody Commercial… Pure Genius

Jay-Z’s commercial and Rhapsody/MTV debut seems to be perfectly timed with his “album leak”. Before seeing the commercial, I thought the album leak would be his last minute and pitiful attempt to create buzz around his new album. I wouldn’t consider myself a Jay Z fan (I am not a big hip hop person), although I do appreciate his music and his business savvy. He has earned even more points with me after this awesome ad, featuring pevious album covers.

The ad is very well done, and transitions from cover to cover effortlessly without feeling rushed.

Hov’s album is set to be released Sept 11. The 8th anniversary of the first Blueprint.
